David Diebold has been active in China for over 25 years, ever since he was first responsible, as a senior United States government official, for the implementation on the US side of the Sino-US Accord that established the framework for developing the United States’ trade and investment relationship with People’s Republic, in the early 1980s.

He also led the first official delegation of U.S. electronics executives ever to visit China, and has worked with hundreds of other companies and investors since, through various stages of China’s commercial development.

David Diebold & Associates (H.K.) Limited, of which he is Chairman and CEO, provides a broad array of strategic consulting services and other assistance to the international business and investment community.

He is a frequent speaker and writer on doing business in China. At the invitation of the Chinese government, he has lectured at the prestigious Central Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing, at Peking University and Renmin University. He recently acted as a judge in the International Renewable Energy Case Challenge at the Guanghua Management School of Peking University, which brought together student teams from all across China.

He holds a Juris.Doctor (J.D.) degree from Cornell University. In addition to his affiliations with Cornell, he oversees, on behalf of his family, the Diebold Fellowship program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT’s) Sloan School of Management.
